Anthropic said Friday it will remove public access to two of its AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, after receiving a directive from the Trump administration restricting foreign nationals from using the company’s most advanced systems.

The company did not characterize the order as a suggestion. Access to both models was cut as a compliance measure, not a product decision, according to Anthropic’s public statement.

The administration’s directive, described in broad terms as a national security measure, applies to the company’s latest-generation models. Neither Fable 5 nor Mythos 5 had been publicly available for an extended period before the order landed.

Anthropic did not specify which nationalities trigger the restriction, what review process might restore access, or whether existing enterprise customers with foreign-national users received separate guidance.

The administration offered no on-record comment attached to Friday’s announcement.

The models were pulled. The directive was not published. The compliance was.
