Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Monday that Russia is preparing “big attacks” he expects to land within the next 48 hours, citing intelligence passed to Kyiv by the United States and European allies.
Zelensky made the warning public without specifying the anticipated targets or the nature of the strike packages described in the intelligence.
The alert follows sustained front-line combat across eastern Ukraine that has run at high tempo for weeks. Kyiv has not confirmed whether the warning triggered new mobilisation or air-defence redeployments.
Western governments have repeatedly shared advance intelligence with Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022. Several prior warnings of escalatory strikes proved accurate, including alerts ahead of mass missile barrages targeting energy infrastructure.
Zelensky has not said whether he has spoken directly with U.S. or European leaders since issuing the public alert. No official response from Moscow was on record at time of publication.
The 48-hour window Zelensky cited runs through Wednesday. Ukrainian military officials are expected to brief the president on defensive readiness Tuesday morning, according to reporting reviewed by the Wail.
