Maddox Jolie-Pitt has filed to remove “Pitt” from his legal name, Page Six reported on May 31, 2026 — the latest development in a custody and family fracture that has moved through Los Angeles Superior Court since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016.

According to the report, at least four of the six children from the marriage have cut contact with Brad Pitt. The list, as it has accumulated across a decade of filings and sourced reporting, now includes Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh. All four are adults or approaching majority.

Zahara Jolie dropped the Pitt surname publicly in late 2023 when she was introduced at an Alpha Kappa Alpha event at Spelman College under the name Zahara Jolie. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed her own name-change petition, reportedly funded by her own earnings, earlier in 2025.

The twins Knox and Vivienne, born July 12, 2008, turn 18 this summer — an age that removes them from the jurisdiction of any standing custody order. The Page Six report frames their upcoming birthday as a practical terminus for court-managed access.

The underlying divorce case, Jolie v. Pitt, has remained active for nearly ten years across multiple issues including the contested sale of Château Miraval, the French winery the couple purchased together in 2012 for a reported €25 million.

The name-change filing does not require the other party's consent once a child reaches adulthood. Maddox is 24.
