Midjourney, the San Francisco AI lab whose text-to-image platform became one of the more recognizable names in consumer AI, has acquired Co-Star, the astrology app that has been sending unsolicited existential advisories to some 30 million registered users since 2017.
The deal was announced July 24, 2026. Terms were not disclosed.
Co-Star built its product around personalized natal charts and daily horoscope notifications, pulling in NASA ephemeris data and running it through its own natural language systems to produce the kind of blunt, slightly ominous push notifications (“Stop performing stability”) that made it a fixture of a certain demographic's lock screen.
Midjourney has been expanding its product surface for several months, having moved into video generation earlier this year. The Co-Star acquisition extends that expansion into consumer wellness and lifestyle — a category that operates, by design, on vibes rather than verifiable outputs.
The company has not said whether Midjourney's image generation tools will be folded into Co-Star's product, or vice versa.
A company that generates pictures of things that don't exist has acquired a company that predicts things that may not happen. No timeline for integration was provided.
