Two U.S. Army websites were hacked and defaced sometime before July 7, displaying messages that called President Trump a “pedophile” and a “thief,” according to a TechCrunch report. The Army confirmed the incidents and said both properties have been restored to normal operation.
No individual or group has formally claimed credit. The method of intrusion has not been publicly disclosed. Investigators are reviewing the incidents.
The messages carried the signature of hacktivist action — crude, pointed, aimed at a named target — but the walls they were written on were the administrative corridors of the United States military. Two websites. Restored. The geometry of it sits there: nameless actors briefly writing on federal infrastructure, then gone, the surface smoothed back over as though the words had not been there at all.
The Army did not specify whether any data was accessed or exfiltrated during the intrusions. No arrests have been announced.
