AI legal-tech startup Norm raised $120 million in a Series C round led by Khosla Ventures, valuing the company at $1.2 billion, the Wail confirmed Monday.
The deal pushes Norm into unicorn territory, the term applied to private startups valued at or above $1 billion, as venture capital continues to flood into AI tools aimed at professional services.
Norm builds AI-powered software for legal work, positioning itself against a legal industry that has been slow to adopt automation but faces mounting cost pressure from corporate clients demanding faster, cheaper output.
Khosla Ventures, the Menlo Park firm founded by Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla, has made repeated bets on AI infrastructure and applied-AI companies across the past three years.
The $120 million raise is among the larger single rounds in legal-tech this year. Terms of the deal, including equity breakdown and participation from other investors, were not disclosed as of publication.
Norm is expected to detail deployment plans for the new capital in the weeks ahead.
