Chris Rock has a new film, and it is about a woman Hollywood stopped calling.
Misty Green, written and directed by Rock, follows an actress described in promotional materials as fighting for her second act in the industry. A trailer dropped Tuesday. The world premiere is slotted for the Toronto International Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It is Rock’s second feature as a writer-director. The subject matter — an industry figure clawing back in — is not an obvious departure for a performer whose own public profile has been, to put it mildly, eventful in recent years.
No domestic distributor or release date has been announced. Toronto runs September 4–14, 2026.
The lead actress’s name does not appear prominently in the trailer materials. The film is called Misty Green.
