Channel 4 is developing a spin-off of its Married at First Sight franchise, provisionally titled Second Marriage at First Sight, according to a report published by Deadline on May 19, 2026.
The network confirmed the project is in active development. The announcement lands while the main MAFS UK series remains under a cloud of rape allegations involving individuals connected to the format.
The spin-off is understood to target participants who have previously been through a divorce or bereavement — a second-chance premise layered on top of a format already facing questions about its duty-of-care arrangements.
Channel 4 has not announced any suspension of the franchise, any formal review of its participant welfare protocols, or any pause in commissioning activity. A spokesperson for the broadcaster had not issued a statement addressing the timing as of publication.
The original Married at First Sight UK series pairs strangers at the altar based on expert matching; participants have no prior contact before the ceremony. The spin-off would follow the same structural conceit.
The broadcaster's last published statement on the allegations described its processes as “robust.” The new commission was announced the same month.
