Three women who died in the sea off Brighton were sisters, police confirmed Tuesday, naming them as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walter, 32, and Rebecca Walter, 31.
All three entered the water at Brighton and were pronounced dead following the incident. Emergency services attended the scene.
Formal identification has now been completed, authorities told the News. The exact circumstances of the deaths remain under investigation.
Brighton is a popular seaside destination on England’s south coast. Conditions and the precise sequence of events in the water have not yet been publicly established by investigators.
The News understands no third-party involvement is currently suspected, though police have not formally closed any lines of inquiry.
A full coroner’s inquest is expected to be opened in the coming weeks. Sussex Police are expected to release further findings as the investigation concludes.
