Surrey Police are investigating child sex abuse allegations connected to the release of court documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the force confirmed, with alleged offences said to date back to the 1980s and 1990s.

No arrests have been made. The force did not name any suspects or disclose how many individuals fall within the scope of the inquiry.

The investigation follows the court-ordered release in the United States of documents referencing Epstein's network of associates and alleged victims. British police forces have faced mounting pressure to act on any UK-relevant material contained in those files.

Surrey Police declined to provide a timeline for the investigation or confirm whether other forces had been contacted in connection with the inquiry.

The News has contacted Surrey Police for further comment. A further update from the force is expected as the inquiry develops.
