Two police officers were seriously injured and 14 people arrested Sunday after disorder broke out in Glasgow city centre as Celtic supporters gathered to celebrate the club's fifth successive Scottish Premiership title.

Riot police were deployed to clear the streets after thousands of fans congregated in the city, with the situation deteriorating into violence, Police Scotland confirmed.

Officers described the scenes as “completely unacceptable,” according to a statement reviewed by the News. The two injured officers were treated for their injuries, though their conditions were not specified beyond “serious.”

Celtic had secured the league championship before the crowd gathered, triggering the celebrations that spilled into disorder. Glasgow's city centre sustained disruption for several hours before police restored order.

All 14 arrested individuals face charges related to the public-order disturbances, sources told the News. Police Scotland said further arrests are possible as officers review footage from the scenes.

A full Police Scotland review of the policing operation is expected in the coming days.
