Micron Technology, the Boise, Idaho-based memory chip manufacturer, will donate $250 million to the Trump administration’s newly established government investment accounts, President Trump announced Tuesday.
The accounts, a novel financial instrument created by the current administration, have not yet attracted a named corporate donor at this scale. Micron’s pledge changes that.
The New York Times reported the announcement July 1, 2026. No disbursement schedule, account structure, or disclosure mechanism for how the $250 million will be allocated was provided in the announcement.
Micron is no stranger to federal engagement. The company secured funding under the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act, which directed roughly $52 billion toward domestic semiconductor manufacturing. The administration has not indicated whether existing federal subsidy relationships with Micron factored into the donation announcement.
Trump made the announcement personally. A spokesperson for Micron had not commented publicly by the time of publication.
The $250 million figure is roughly equivalent to Micron’s reported net income for a single week during its most recent profitable quarter. That detail did not appear in the announcement.
