Straus Family Creamery, the organic dairy headquartered in Marshall, California, has asked customers to throw out ice cream tubs sold in May across 17 states, the company announced this week.
The voluntary recall covers product distributed during the current month, though Straus did not specify in its public statement which flavors are affected, which lot codes are implicated, or the precise nature of the concern that prompted the pull.
No injuries have been reported, the company said.
Straus Family Creamery markets itself on the strength of its certified organic, pasture-raised credentials and has cultivated a retail presence across premium grocery chains in the western and northeastern United States.
Customers with questions were directed to the company and, separately, to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recall database, where the filing is listed.
The tubs in question retail at a price point generally north of eight dollars each — a detail the company's recall notice did not find relevant to include.
