“I am a proudly gay man,” Shomo wrote in the post. “This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now.”

Shomo and his wife have been married for 14 years. She posted her own public statement the same day, offering her support.

The disclosure landed in the middle of an active Beartooth touring cycle. The band's most recent album, The Surface, came out in 2023 on Red Bull Records.

Neither party has commented publicly on what the disclosure means for the marriage going forward. The Instagram post did not address it, and neither did hers.
