Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer and younger brother of the late Princess Diana, has married for the fourth time. The groom is 61. The bride is Cat Jarman, a Norse-era archaeologist, TV presenter, and author whose 2021 book River Kings traced Viking migration through trade beads. She is his fourth wife.

Spencer's previous marriages ran as follows: Victoria Lockwood, married 1989, divorced 1997; Caroline Freud, married 2001, divorced 2007; Karen Spencer, married 2011, divorced 2023. The three marriages produced seven children between them.

Spencer is the custodian of Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the Spencer family estate where Princess Diana is buried on an island in the ornamental lake. The estate is open to visitors each summer at ticket prices starting at £32.50 per adult.

No venue for the ceremony was confirmed in public announcements as of the date of filing. Jarman posted confirmation to her Instagram account, which has approximately 70,000 followers, on May 19.

The couple had been publicly linked since at least 2021. Spencer's divorce from Karen Spencer was finalized in 2023, the same year Jarman's own divorce from a previous partner was reported in the British press.

Jarman studies the movement of people across continents by examining the objects they left behind.
