A group of Miami police officers has filed a civil defamation lawsuit against Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, naming the two as producers of a Netflix crime thriller they allege falsely portrayed them as corrupt, according to a Page Six report dated May 10, 2026.

The complaint does not allege a fictional composite. The officers contend the depiction was specific enough to constitute identifiable defamation against named or readily identifiable individuals within the department.

Netflix, as the distribution platform, is also referenced in the filing. Damon and Affleck's production involvement is the basis for naming them as defendants rather than any on-screen role.

No statements from counsel for either Damon or Affleck had been reported at time of filing. The officers are seeking damages; the dollar figure sought was not confirmed in available reporting.

The film is a crime thriller. The plaintiffs are the people it was ostensibly about.
